To enhance the success of women in the construction industry

Committees
ASU LIAISON Chairperson:  Pam Dullum,  CCA
 
The (2) previous past chapter presidents or those past presidents that can attend the meetings sit on the ASU Advisory Council of the Del E. Webb School of Construction at Arizona State University. The council plans the annual  “Construction Recognition Banquet.”  In addition, the council promotes the Outstanding Woman in Construction Award sponsored by the Greater Phoenix Chapter of NAWIC.

ATTENDANCE

Chairperson:   Cindy Peterson

 
The committee handles the meeting accommodations and registration, tracks members RSVP’s, corresponds with the hotel, prepares ID badges, reconciles attendance, collects dinner fees and makes the dinner meeting deposit.

AZ CONSTRUCTION CAREER DAYS
Chairperson:  
 Jo Nelson
 
The committee promotes construction career opportunities to Arizona’s Junior & Senior high school students through a two-day trade show/expo event featuring hands-on activities and construction equipment. Local contractors and vendors set up booths and educate the students on the various career opportunities in the construction industry

BLOCK KIDS Chairperson:  Sherry Eklund
 
The Block Kids building contest is a national competition sponsored by NAWIC.  The committee coordinates a local Block Kids building contest where children in grades 1 - 6 have an hour to build a construction project with a 100 interlocking building blocks.  This event teaches children and their parents the many benefits and career opportunities in the construction industry.

BYLAWS Chairperson:  Pam Dullum, CCA
 
This committee prepares and submits all amendments, to the Chapter Standing Rules, Procedures or Guidelines to the NAWIC Bylaws Chairman for review.

CONSTRUCTION
DICTIONARY

Chairperson: 

The committee is responsible for the publication, coordination of sales and  distribution, and promotion of the Construction Dictionary.  The committee is currently working on the 10th edition; this includes the selecting and defining new terms to be added as well as editing and proofing all work.


CONSTRUCTION
INDUSTRY


Chairperson:  Lourdes Lopez

This committee sponsors industry related activities and functions beneficial to the construction industry and community.  In the past, we’ve participated in the all ‘Women Build’ home” by Habitat for Humanity and Make a Difference Day.  Many of our chapter current committees fall under Construction Industry including Arizona Construction Career Days and Metro Tech.

CAD/DRAFTING Chairperson:  
 
The CAD/Design Drafting contest is a national competition sponsored by NAWIC.  This committee coordinates a local CAD/Design Drafting competition where high school students design a construction project within the contest guidelines and local architects judge their projects . 

FIREBIRD Chairperson:    Amy Irwin
 
The committee puts together our monthly chapter newsletter highlighting  chapter, regional and national events, and promotes our chapter’s programs and activities.

GRANTS Chairperson: 
 
This committee is responsible for gathering applications from qualified Junior / Senior students enrolled in industry programs at local (AZ) universities, and then selecting recipients for our Chapter grants.  Funding for these grants are generated from our Construction Dictionary proceeds as well as our Red Rose Classic Golf Tournament.     

HEALTH & SAFETY Chairperson:  
 
The committee keeps the membership updated on all health and safety issues that affect the industry. 

LEGISLATIVE AWARENESS
Chairperson:
 

This committee is responsible for informing the membership of new legislation that affects the construction industry and which has an impact on business and working women.

MEMBERSHIP Chairperson:   Cindy Peterson
 
This committee is responsible for recruiting, welcoming and retaining members, new member rap sessions and the Red Rose Reception.

NAWIC
EDUCATION

Chairperson:  Sharon McGuinness, CCA, CIT

This committee coordinates, promotes, publicizes and coordinates testing for the various education programs sponsored by NEF (NAWIC Education Foundation).

PROFESSIONAL
EDUCATION

Chairperson:  Sherry Eklund

This committee is responsible for planning the guest speakers for our monthly meetings, coordinating educational seminars and jobsite tours.

PUBLICITY Chairperson:    Carol Hagen
 
This committee is responsible for promoting the meetings and various chapter activities through press releases and other media coverage.

RED ROSE
CLASSIC GOLF

Chairperson:
   Heidi Kelly & Lee Morgan

This committee coordinates our annual golf tournament, which is our major fundraising activity for the year.  The proceeds from our tournament go into our Endowment Fund, which provides grants to students pursuing a career in the construction industry.

RECEPTION

Chairperson: 

This committee coordinates a networking reception to introduce and recruit potential members to NAWIC.

ROSTER Chairperson:    
 
This committee is responsible for maintaining and updating the current member-ship roster, which is distributed to our membership.

WAYS & MEANS Chairperson:    Robin Hadley
 

This committee is responsible for raising money for the chapter by holding monthly raffles and other misc. fundraising activities.


WEBSITE  Chairperson:    Carol Hagen 
 

This committee is responsible for updating the website and should work on getting chapter information on the site.
